Hyrum Clarence Hurst was born October 17, 2018 at 1:16 pm. I could not wait for the day we could meet our little boy, I had been so uncomfortable for a long time and I just love babies. Because we have such large babies the doctor scheduled  me for induction so we were able to get all the details worked out for baby sitters for the girls. Grandma and Grandpa Hurst came and got the girls the night before and gave Doug and I a coupon for ice cream so we could have a little date before the baby came. I was really sad to say goodbye to the girls because I knew it was going to be a while before I got to see them again but I did enjoy the time with Doug.
I was really excited for a new baby but I was also very nervous for delivery, all night I kept thinking about the epidural needle (I was not looking forward to that.) We called in the morning to make sure we were still good to come and when we got the OK we left. I got there and got all hooked up. We got a nurse that was interning so things were a little slower than normal but she did a great job. The only time I was a little upset was when she was working on the IV and would keep touching me but wouldn't stick the needle in and I just wanted it over with. I decided this time I wasn't going to be tough so I was going to get the epidural as soon as they would let me. My contractions were fairly strong when I got it. My blood pressure dropped after the first dose of the epidural so I got really nauseous. They got it back to where it was supposed to be but I would keep getting lighted headed for a while.I did finally get feeling better so other than that the epidural was amazing this time, it took enough of the pain away to make it bearable but I was still able to move one leg a little bit. Doug read most of the day and let me do my thing and would be with me when I needed him. It  was finally time for the baby to come and not long after the doctor got into the room we had a healthy little boy. Doug says it was the fastest baby yet. Its amazing how much love can fill one room. Hyrum weighed 9 pounds 15 ounces making him our second biggest baby and he was a week early. He was 22 inches long which makes him our tallest if I am not mistaken. We were able to get some food and spread the news to the family. We sent a picture to Grandma for the girls. She sent a text back that said they thought he was pretty cute and wet. We had a good laugh over that.

He was a great eater but very tired. the feeding before I went to bed the pricked his heal to test his sugar and I changed his diaper three times but he slept through all of it and wouldn't eat. The other times he did great. The girls got to come see him that night. They loved holding him and loved eating dads snacks that he brought, that was supposed to keep them settled down but Brynli was very excited the whole time she was there.

We got to go home the next afternoon and Doug and I had the house to ourselves the next day as well. We were pretty bored and really excited for the girls to come home. We are very busy now with our four young children but I wouldn't trade it for the world. It can be very hard at times but I love each of my children and they make me so happy. We have been very blessed and I am so grateful for the things that I am able to learn because I am their mother. I love my family and I am so grateful for the addition of Hyrum.
